Setting out on a travel adventure is often an experience of wonder and discovery. Whether traveling abroad for an extended amount of time or going on a fun weekend getaway, there are a few travel must-haves to ensure your trip goes as smoothly and enjoyable as possible.Much of what you need to bring depends entirely on your destination. You will probably not pack your winter parka when traveling to Hawaii or bring your swimsuit to the North Pole, but there are certain everyday essentials that work well for most travel situations.Next to your wallet, passport and driver’s license, I would highly recommend bringing a good pair of walking shoes. Nothing is more disappointing than traveling to a wonderful destination only to end up with sore and blistered feet. Support from a good pair of walking shoes is a must; your feet, as well as your back, will certainly thank you. While traveling, you are sure to be doing a fair amount of walking, whether to shops, museums, galleries, or on a guided walking tour, you will benefit greatly by bringing a variety of stylish, but comfortable clothing. It is best to check ahead for current weather conditions, giving you the opportunity to pack accordingly. In many types of weather, layers work exceptionally well, enabling you to add or remove layers as needed. When packing, we must remember the wonderful attributes of a wheeled suitcase, which makes travel so much easier and takes the weight off of your shoulders, literally. Backpacks work great, too, allowing you to bring along daily essentials such as bottled water, small snacks, sunscreen, a map, travel guidebook and small travel umbrella in case of rain. Backpacks come in a variety of sizes and can be on wheels, as well. It is best to bring along a money belt when carrying important valuables such as money and passports. Another great idea is to bring along a few simple laundry items. A small travel bottle of liquid laundry detergent is perfect for washing out delicates in your hotel sink, and a laundry bag is very handy to keep dirty laundry separated from clean laundry while in your suitcase. A fabulous little item to keep with you at all times is a laundry stain stick. Inevitably, there will be a time when a small stain or spill will occur, and stain sticks work wonders while dining out. Digital cameras are another top must-have; pictures are priceless keepsakes, so remember to bring along extra camera batteries for all of the great travel pictures you will be taking! Following these simple tips will help prepare you for a most enjoyable travel experience.
